Unboxing

What’s in the box?

Features

The Redragon Wyvern K761 is a full sized keyboard with the features all gamers need at a price no one else can beat. If you are looking for a reasonable upgrade that looks good and will elevate your game, the Wuvern K761 might be what you’re looking for.

Aesthetic

The Wyvern K761 Pro comes in two colors: Jade Cloud and Abysal Blue. I got mine in Jade Cloud, but the choice depends on what fits your aesthetic better.

Both colors feature the customizable LED screen and a knob for onboard media/volume controls. The round pbt give the keyboard its unique look, while supplying users with a comfortable typing experience. The linear Mint Mambo switches make typing soft, but give it that satisfying thacky sound you want in a mechanical keyboard. Each key is lit with a customizatble RGB that shines through the keycaps for a bit of added flair. The keycaps and switches are easily swappable if you ever decide to change up your aesthetic.

Comfort

The Wyvern Pro has a five layer gasket design that provides enough noise dampening to keep that sweet typing ASMR at a respectable volume. Loud enough for you to enjoy, quite enough for the house to sleep. The adjustable kickstands give users the option to find the ideal typing angle, although the default should be good enough for most users. The round PBT give the keyboard its soft and satisfying feel, and the mint mambo switches give it its comfort.

Gimmicks

The Wyvern Pro features a customizable LED screen. It displays useful information like battery life, date, and time, but can also be customized to feature one of your favorite gifs. This can be easily customized through the official software found on the product page. The keyboard also has a useful dial for volume and media controls.

Utility

This budget mechanical keyboard has a respectable amount of utility. Each of the 104 keys can be rebound or reprogrammed with useful macros through the official software. The software can also change up the RGB for some added customization. The fast/low latency wireless connections make it ideal for the gamer who wants to reduce that wire clutter, and the respectable 4000 mAh battery keeps that wire away unless you really need it. Users can switch between connections easily with the the onboard switch, and there is a mac switch for those who need it. The K761 bundles a lot of value in a very affordable package.

Sound Test

Review

The Wyvern K761 gives a very respectable performance at an unbeatable price. If you are looking for a full sized keyboard that will handle most workloads, you can count on the K761.

Quality

I was a little disappointed at first. My mailman played soccer with the box, leaving it mangled and its contents out of place. All of the contents spilled out when I did my opening, and I was worried they keyboard wasn’t going to work. At this price point, they tend to break with the slightest pressure. The keyboard and the contents looked fine. The keyboard is well machined, although cheap feeling and plasticky and the extra switches although scattered, work. After a week of using the keyboard, I can attest that the quality is solid. Everything works despite the lack of care for my postman.

Aesthetic

I got the keyboard in Jade Cloud because I like the fun mint green color scheme. In person, the colors are good, but the font is a little hard to read with my dyslexia. It isn’t a huge problem, but the font looks cheap with the lights off. With the lights on, the keyboard looks a lot cooler, but there are some letters that look strange. For $75 tho, they look fine and will look cool against any setup. You can always upgrade them down the line if you really want to.

Comfort

I was not expecting the Wyvern Pro to be as comfortable as it is. It took no time to get used to this keyboard, and I could use it all day without issue. The rounded keycaps give the keyboard a satisfying and comfortable feel. The mint mambo switches are very soft and they give off the perfect typing ASMR. I love how this keyboard sounds, but it is a little loud. I had to be careful or else I would wake up the baby in the other room. However, if you are looking for a keyboard with that sweet thacky goodness, the Wyvern K761 is perfection!

Performance

I am always worried when testing these cheaper keyboards because there is always a chance they come defective. I’ve gotten my share of defective ones. The K761 had no issues out of the box, nor did it show signs of failing. I was able to do some meaningful raids and dailies in my MMO grind without issue, and it handled my day to day just the same. The battery is incredible! I got about 30 hours on a single charge, and that is with all the lights on.

Gimmick

The more keyboards I get with LED screens, the more I appreciate them. I like being able to see how much battery I have left on a charge, but other than that, its useless. Setting up the GIF is easy, and it adds a little flare to your setup. I usually forget about the GIF after setting it, but its nice if you like to theme your aesthetic. The volume dial is fantastic. It has a smooth and responsive glide, and it lets me pause my media (even if its in the background).

Conclusion

If you only have $70 to upgrade your setup, the Wyvern K761 will get the job done. This is a good looking mechanical keyboard with enough utility packed into a respectable package. You can buy a more impressive looking keyboard at this price point, but you will be losing out on the comfort and performance. I definitely recommend it.

You can pick up the WYvern K761 on the official Redragon store, or through Amazon using my Affiliate link.

Epomaker Cypher96: A Stylish and Functional Keyboard

Disclaimer

Epomaker sent me the Cypher96 mechanical keyboard for free to review for my blog. While I am very grateful for the opportunity, I won’t let it sway my opinions. This will be my honest review. Make sure you also check out my reviews for the Hack59 if you’re looking for something more minimalistic.

What’s in the box?

  • Cypher96 Mechanical Keyboard
  • 3 Additional Switches
  • Key/Switch Puller
  • USB-C to USB-A Braided Charging Cable
  • User Guide
  • 2.4 GHz Wireless Dongle

Features

‘The Cypher 96 mechanical keyboard is a full-sized keyboard with 96 keys. The keyboard comes with Epomaker Wisteria and Flamingo switches. I got mines with the Wisteria switches. The keyboard is a very pretty blue/purple/white scheme that will fit any cozy aesthetic, The south facing RGB is soft, and the perfect accent to the already pretty keyboard. The slight incline and built in tents make it easy for users to find the most comfortable position.

Functionally, the Cypher 96 supports high-powered, low latency wireless connections through its Bluetooth 6 support or 2.4GHz dongle, but users can enjoy an even faster connection with the included, high-quality braided charging cable. The two 4000 mAh batteries mean you won’t be reaching for the wire unless you really want to.

What makes the Cypher 96 a unique keyboard is the onboard screen above the number pad. This screen displays important information like the time, battery, and connection information. It also doubles as a calculator, which can easily be toggled at any time.

Sound Test

Review

The Cypher96 comes expertly packed, and although my box looked like it was thrown around by the mailman, came in excellent condition. The keyboard looks amazing out of the box. Every piece is finely manufactured and high quality, there is little flex, and it has a very pretty color scheme. The screen does throw off the aesthetic, but it is very handy to have. I use the number pad regularly, and being able to switch to a calculator was a feature I didn’t know I needed. I particularly love the connection switch placement. I regularly switch between the different connections during my testing, and having a switch in the corner is very convenient.

Functionally, the Cypher96 is a great keyboard. The keys are soft, responsive, and don’t make too much noise. The design is ergonomic enough to allow for prolonged use, and the high adjustments only add to the comfort. All the connections felt responsive. I had no issue with latency, but I don’t play at a high enough competitive level for it to matter. The battery life was incredible. I was getting 10-12 hours of continuous use, and I don’t think I ever charged it to 100%. Best of all, it is GMK compatible, making it a customizable beast for gaming or other work flows.

If you’re looking for a good full sized keyboard with a pretty color scheme, the Epomaker Cypher96 is a great place to start. The issue will be the onboard screen, but it is an issue that goes away if you get a lot of use out of it. This thing looks great, feels great, and works great. Pick yours up on the official Epomaker store for only $99.99.

Tech Review: Redragon K585 DITI Keypad

If you like what I do and want to show your support, please consider buying me a coffee

I want to start off by mentioning that this isn’t a sponsored review. I bought this with my own money and these will be my honest review. All links in this review are my affiliate links, I get a little money if you choose to buy anything I link to.

The Redragon K585 DITI is a mechanical gaming keypad. The keypad has 42 keys and 7 onboard macro keys that are easy to program through their software. You get three options for key switches: red, brown, and blue. The red switches are their silent option, blue is their loudest, and brown is in between. The Redragon K585 DITI is available in both wired and wireless options. And just so you know that this is a gaming keypad, it has RGB.

Out of the box, you get the keypad, a plastic wrist rest, a keycap puller, a switch puller, a braided USB-c cable, a wireless dongle, extra switches for replacement, and a sticker. I choose the wireless option with the blue caps, so my set came with five blue switches.

Images taken from Amazon product page

At first glance, this keypad looks cheap. When you use it, it feels and sounds cheap as well. It’s not unusable nor breaks easily, but it is something to keep in mind. The blue switches are very loud; I recommend you buy one of the quieter options even if you like the sound. The blue switches do not produce the satisfying mechanical sound I am used to, but rather a cheap clanging that will annoy your housemates. You can probably lube the switches to reduce the sound and eliminate some of the clangings, but that is too much effort for a cheap keypad. You are better off spending a bit more for something better.

I used the keypad for about a month for all my gaming. The performance of the keypad was great at first. There was no noticeable latency, but the clanging got annoying. If you are using voice chat, everyone is going to hear your keypresses. Unfortunately, the wireless feature stopped working after a day. I tried updating the firmware, switching ports, and charging the battery, but the fixes were only temporary. I ended up returning the keypad because I couldn’t use it wirelessly.

Programing this keypad is easy. You plug in the keypad and use the software to customize the keys, macros, and lighting profiles. You can change the lighting profiles on the keyboard without having to go into the software which is nice. The macros were nice and I would use them to bind keys that I needed for gaming that this keypad didn’t have. Unfortunately, my bindings kept clearing so I stopped using them pretty early on as well.

The RGB is okay and offers a few options, but you are limited to the preset profiles. If you want better customization, I suggest you get a different keyboard. One pretty cool feature this keyboard has is that the backlight turns off when it is not in use. Unfortunately, I can’t speak about the battery life since I was forced to mostly use it wired. I recommend buying the wired version instead.

Maintenance for the keypad is very easy. The keycaps and switches are easy to remove for cleaning and replacement. I dropped the keypad accidentally from a low height, and one of the keycaps fell off. I was able to put it back without an incident, but I fear a higher drop might prove disastrous.

If you are looking to make your setup more ergonomic, look elsewhere. Although I found my hand position on this keypad comfortable, I could only game on this for an hour before my hand would cramp out and remain useless. The wrist rest offers no additional support and seems more like a gimmick than a feature. You are better off purchasing a third-party wrist wrest. If you are looking for an ergonomic mechanical keyboard, you are better off with the Kinesis Freestyle. You can see my full review on that here.

So is the Redragon K585 DITI worth your money? No, it is not. It feels, looks, and sounds cheap. The only reason I can see someone buying this keypad is if they need the portability. Otherwise, I suggest you spend a little more and buy a full-sized or split keyboard. If you are getting this keypad, get the wired version with quieter switches. You can buy both wireless and wired on Amazon with my affiliate links. The Redragon K585 DITI isn’t a terrible product, but you have better options.

Tech Review: Logitech M570

The Logitech M570 was the first mouse I purchased on my first attempt to make my setup more ergonomic. I have since upgraded to the Logitech MX Ergo, but the Logitech M570 is a valuable contender in your search for better ergonomics.

Please note that I am not a doctor, and any advice I give here is strictly based on my experience. Always consult your doctor with any ailments. Please note that I will be using affiliate links for this product. If you do choose to buy this mouse, I get some money as compensation. Regardless, these will be my honest thoughts on the product.

The Logitech M570 is a wireless rollerball mouse. This mouse is not rechargeable and requires AAA batteries. A set of these is included in the box, and I got about a year of continuous use before having to change them out. This mouse is not Bluetooth compatible and requires an included dongle to connect to your device.

Out of the box, the cursor speed is slow, but this can be easily adjusted in your computer settings. A third-party application is not required to use this mouse.

One thing to keep in mind with Roller balls is that they do get dirty over time. To avoid a drop in sensitivity, clean regularly. Cleaning the Logitech M570 is incredibly simple. To clean the mouse, simply remove the ball from the socket and clean the inside of any debris.

This mouse is good for gaming. You don’t get any extra keybinds, nor will be ideal for high-end competitive play, but it will allow for a more comfortable gaming session. I didn’t notice any negative effects to my gameplay when I made the switch.

I used this mouse for about a year before making the change. It took me a couple of days to get used to the movement and find a sensitivity that met my needs. I had been struggling with repetitive stress disorder in my hands and wrists up to this point, and the pain made work difficult. Switching to this mouse helped tremendously with this issue, and I keep this mouse at the office for work.

I love this mouse and recommend it if you are looking to upgrade your mouse. The only reason I made the switch to the Logitech MX Ergo is because I spend too much time in front of a computer. While the M570 did address a lot of the issues I was having before, I found that the pain would return after a certain amount of hours. This shouldn’t be a problem for most people who use their computers a healthy amount. The M570 will be a fantastic upgrade to your ergonomic setup.

The Logitech M570 is currently $79.99 on Amazon.

Tech Review: Logitech MX Ergo

I’d like to do something different with my reviews. My line of work and hobbies keep me stuck in front of my computer most days. As a result, I do have issues with repetitive stress disorder that has rendered my hands useless from time to time. It had gotten so bad that I had all but lost the function in my hands. Simple tasks like holding a pencil and writing became impossible due to the pain.

I have since done a lot of research and testing to find a setup that would save my hands from chronic pain, and I would like to share some of my findings. Please note that I am not a doctor, and these recommendations are based on my personal experience. Always consult your doctor with any ailments. I will also be linking affiliate links to any items I review which will give me a little bit of money if you choose to buy anything I recommend.

The first accessory I tried to change was the mouse. I tried a few different mice, but Logitech MX Ergo was by far my favorite. It is by far a bit on the expensive side, but it was worth it since I no longer endure that crippling pain.

The Logitech MX Ergo is a roller mouse, and it will come with a slight learning curve. The device is Bluetooth compatible, but it comes with a dongle that will help you pair it with your computer wirelessly. You can pair and switch between two different computers by default. There is a third-party application that you can use, it isn’t required, but I found that it makes configuring the mouse easier.

The software is pretty easy to set up. You download it from the Logitech website and configure the settings to your liking when it’s done. It asks for an account, but it isn’t mandatory. Every button on this mouse can be rebound as button presses, macros, and even gestures. You can create program-specific bindings that will switch automatically when using said program. If you have two different computers you work between, make sure you set up Flow. Flow comes with the software; it allows you to transfer files between two computers that are connected to the same wifi and have Logitech Connect installed.

Out of the box, I thought the sensitivity was too low. I raised it on the app for it to do what I needed. The mouse has a precision mode by default that can be activated by a side button that will slow the cursor speed when you need it. The mouse also has some insane battery life. I charge the mouse every 1-2 months with heavy use and never turn it off.

Ergonomically, this mouse is a godsend. You can adjust the tilt of this mouse by 20 degrees to better match the natural curve of your hands. I prefer having the full tilt for maximum comfort. This curve in combination with the right height will help reduce the strain on your wrist and hand. One thing to note, there is a learning curve to this mouse that you will need to adjust to. It requires a different range of moments that will tire a different set of muscles. It took me about a week to get used to the movement, so plan accordingly.

I have no issues gaming with this mouse. I mainly play MMOs and whatever games I get to review, but I have not seen any negative effect on my performance. I don’t consider myself a competitive gamer, but I can complete end-game content in all the MMOs I play. I’ve also had no problems with PVP content. Your mileage may vary. At the very least, this will make for a more comfortable gaming session.

I have been daily driving this mouse for two years and have noticed the difference. I no longer feel the crippling pain in my hands and wrists. This mouse isn’t a perfect fix, you should take regular breaks and look into stretches, but I don’t see myself going back to any other mouse. Do your hands a favor and start looking into the ergonomics of the tools you use.

The mouse is $97.50 usd as of writing this. Get yours today
