Another Code: Recollection is coming to the Switch this January!

Another Code: Recollection has been announced on the Nintendo Switch, and I am excited to get my hands on this title. I’ll keep saying it, I love all the remakes Nintendo is coming at us with. I don’t think I’ll ever have enough time to play all of them, but I love that they are an option since I never got to play them when I was younger. It also gives people an opportunity to share a bit of nostalgia with a new generation of gamers.

Now I hadn’t heard about the Another Code games until this announcement, but they seem like games I will thoroughly enjoy. The art style is cool, and I love puzzles and story-driven mysteries.

Help Ashley as she looks to solve the mysteries around her family in two remastered titles you might need in your collection: Another Code: Two Memories and Trace Memory. Trace Memory was never released in North America, so this might be your chance to play through it. The remaster promises overhauled visuals, and new voice acting, puzzles, and music.

Another Code: Recollection releases on January 19th at $59.99 MRSP. You can preorder your copy today! If you’ve been enjoying these updates, don’t forget to like, comment, subscribe, and share this with your friends!

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless is out for the Switch, and its pretty cute

The Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless demo for the Nintendo Switch has been out for a few days, but I finally got to play it. I loved every minute of this demo. The art is cute, the voice acting is fantastic, and the gameplay is engaging. I haven’t played any of the Disgaea games before, and I am regretting my life’s decisions. Disgaea is a cute and quirky strategy RPG coming to PlayStation, Steam, and the Nintendo Switch on October 3rd in the US, the 6th in Europe, and the 13th in Australia.

A tyrant rules the Netherworld of Hinomoto. Its once proud warrior people now live under the Hinomoto Code of Destruction. It is up to two unlikely friends to join forces and bring back the Bushido code that was once the staple of this proud civilization.

You don’t need to have played any of the other games in the series to enjoy the demo, but you are going to want to. The demo does a fantastic job of walking players through the different mechanics and setting up the story as its own entity. I’ve been excited about Disgaea 7 since it was first announced. This is definitely going to be in my cart at launch. If you are a fan of the series or want some extra swag, you might want to check out the special collector’s edition available at the NIS online store. There are two different sets, one with plushies ($159) and one without ($99.99). I’ll leave the details below. You can buy the plushies separately.

All the Mario Games Announced on Nintendo Direct 9.14.23

The September Nintendo Direct was huge! We got a ton of new game announcements, and rather than making a giant overwhelming post, I’ve decided to break it up as best I can into smaller manageable chunks. I’ll be starting with the Mario games because we have a bunch on our horizon. If you enjoy these updates, make sure you like, comment, follow, and share this with your friends!

Super Mario RPG ($59.99)

Let me start with the announcement I am most excited about, Super Mario RPG. Now I never got to play the original so I don’t know what to expect but based on the trailer, it has some similar mechanics to Sea of Stars, and I am here for it. I love the art style, and these Mario games tend to lean towards the perfect level of quirkiness I tend to enjoy. Super Mario RPG releases on November 11. You can preorder it off the eshop today.

Princess Peach: Showtime

We got a bit more gameplay for the upcoming Princess Peach: Showtime, and it’s pretty exciting. This time, the princess is doing her own saving in her own stand-alone title. The art looks great, the mini-games look fun, and I love the idea of the different costumes giving Princess Peach her own powers. I love that they didn’t just recolor her iconic dress, but rather gave her a unique look for each power. Princess Peach: Showtime is coming to Switch on March 22nd. You can preorder yours from the eshop today.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD

Luigi’s Mansion 2 is coming to the Nintendo Switch. If you are a fan of the original, this might be the remaster you need to relive some nostalgia. The game looks great! I never got to play the original when it came out, so this might be my chance. You can play solo, or with up to four friends in couch or online co-op. Luigi’s Mansion 2 comes out summer 2024.

Mario Vs. Donkey Kong ($49.99)

Mario Vs. Donkey Kong is back in a nifty little puzzle game that I am sure fans of the original will appreciate. The puzzles look like fun, and I love how the boss fights look in this. Mario Vs. Donkey Kong comes out on February 16. Preorder yours today!

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

I’ve said this before, I love that Nintendo is bringing back classic titles to the Switch because I never had a chance to play them when I was younger. Not that I have much time to play them now, but it gives people the chance to relive some nostalgia. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is coming to the Switch with updated graphics, and its so cute! The games out sometime next year.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass Wave 6

The new course pack is coming just in time for the holidays. It’s bringing with it seven new courses and four returning characters: Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Pauline, and Peachete. You’ll have access to these courses if you have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack ($49.99/Year)

Second Wave Beta coming October 6th!

The Beta for the MOBA Shooter Second Wave has been announced for PC and Xbox. The beta will run from October 6th to the 16th. Now I got to play an early version at GDC and got in for the Alpha and loved every second of it. Even though the versions I’ve tried were rough, they were enough to keep me excited for Second Wave’s release. I understand that it is too early to judge since we don’t have a finished product, but I see the potential.

Second Wave will be playable on PC, Xbox, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and IOS and Android devices. It is essentially Overwatch, but more anime-inspired. I just hope Second Wind isn’t as toxic as Overwatch has become. I loved playing support and can’t wait to hop back in and play some more. This game is fun, and worth trying if you enjoy the genre, so make sure you wishlist the game on Steam and join the Discord to stay on top of all the news.

The demo for the cute pixel art puzzle platformer Quadroids is up on Steam, and I liked it

If you have been enjoying my content and want to support what I do make sure you like, comment, subscribe, and share this with your friends. You can also buy me a coffee

The Quadroids Demo is Steam, and I recommend you check it out if you are looking for a chill yet engaging puzzle game. This cute yet morbid pixel art puzzle platformer will test your ability to multi-task. Guide your Quadroids through a series of dangerous puzzles on your quest to conquer the galaxy. Quadroids are expendable, and you will lose a lot of them.

The demo is short, about 30 minutes long (depending on your ability to multi-task), and it does a fantastic job of easing players into the mechanics while creating a solid expectation for the full game. It is a little sad that the Quadroids are so cute because you will need to sacrifice them on your path to total domination. There will be solutions that will require you to sacrifice Quadriods to clear the puzzle. Don’t worry, you eventually grow numb to their deaths.

The gameplay loop is simple. Quadroids move automatically. The only command issued to Quadroids is jump. Puzzles are divided into four quadrants, and each quadrant has a unique button for the jump command. When the Quadroid is in the top left quadrant, it will only react to the top left trigger. The game has keyboard support, but I recommend using a gamepad because it feels more comfortable. What makes this game difficult is that you will often be controlling multiple Quadroids at once. You’ll want to coordinate multiple Quadroids through the puzzles to get the fastest times in the least amount of commands. If the puzzles prove too easy, you can always try completing the optional challenges.

I really enjoyed this game. The puzzles are fun, the music is great, and the art is cute. I am not the best when it comes to platformers, but the platforming and puzzles are manageable. This is a game you’ll want to pick up when you want to relax, but you either don’t have much free time or don’t want a game that requires a huge commitment. This might not be a game you play till completion, but I’ll need to check out the full version to know for sure.

Quadroids will launch on PC, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox soon, but no release date has been set yet. Until then, check out the demo on Steam.

Sea of Stars trailer reveals a new character: The Portal Assassin

The new trailer introduces the new character Serai, and she is bringing with her a whole new dimension to combat. She can portal around the battle field and back stab enemies! It honestly doesn’t get cooler than that. I love how creative the combat system is in Sea of Stars. This isn’t your traditional turn-based RPG, it is a lot more involved than that. I haven’t had this much fun with a demo in a while, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the full game.

I’ve been excited to play Sea of Stars for a while now. The game looks very good, and the demo is a lot of fun. I you haven’t tried the demo yet, I highly recommend you do so now. If you weren’t thinking about buying it before, you will after the demo. The demo is available for Xbox, Steam, PlayStation, and on the Nintendo Switch. Make sure you check out my impressions of the demo.

Sea of Stars launches on August 29th. I’m hoping to pick it up on the Switch day one, and will be back with the review as soon as I can.

Terra Memoria: The cozy turn-based RPG coming to consoles and PC

Terra Memoria is a cozy turn-based RPG coming to Steam, Xbox, PS5, and Switch. This cute RPG mixes a beautifully drawn 3D world with cute 2D pixel art characters and I am here for it. It definitely gives me some Octopath Traveller vibes, but Terra Memoria seems a bit more whimsical.  Terra Memoria puts its emphasis on exploration and adventure as a group of friends travel across Terra in search of a solution for the crystal shortage. What makes this game unique is its building mechanic. Players can use this mechanic to create objects, solve puzzles, and create their own village. If is anything like Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley, I’m never getting anything done.

If you are looking for a new RPG that might be a bit more on the casual side, you should give this a look. No release date has been set yet, but you can at least wishlist it on Steam.

I’m working on getting a review code for this, so stay tuned for the full review when it’s out. Until then, It might be time to finally start up Octopath Traveller II

I picked up Revita and thought it was cute and fun, but is it worth it?

If you have been enjoying my content and want to support what I do make sure you like, comment, subscribe, and share this with your friends. You can also buy me a coffee

I picked up Revita for the Nintendo Switch because I was in the market for a casual game that didn’t require much commitment. The game features cute art, a fantastic soundtrack, and promised gameplay that seemed manageable with my current skill level. Revita delivered on most of my expectations. The game is a fun casual journey through a cute world that I will continue to pick up.

Revita is a unique twin-stick shooter roguelite with procedural dungeons. There is a story, but it serves more as flavor rather than creates the game’s identity.

The gameplay loop for Revita is simple. You start each run with a set amount of life and fight through the floors of enemies until you either clear the tower or die and start again. Each floor is randomly generated, making each attempt feel unique. The RNG isn’t always fair, but you can easily and quickly restart without losing your progress.

What makes this game unique is that it uses life as a currency. You can trade life for randomly generated upgrades at shrines or stores to give your character an edge against the monsters and bosses. There aren’t many chances to regenerate life. Life in Revita is a precious resource and the source of many difficult decisions. How much life will you be willing to sacrifice for power?

Revita is a game where you will die a lot by design. As you play the game and collect resources that you can use to buy permanent upgrades that make future runs easier. This game has a grind, but it doesn’t feel soul-crushing. The gameplay is a bit repetitive, but I found the repetition relaxing. That said, this isn’t a game I can main or no life because the loop gets stale after a while. This is a game you pick up in quick bouts when you don’t have enough time to game or are just looking for a quick and fun distraction.

I had a lot of fun with Revita. The art is great, the soundtrack is amazing, and the gameplay is solid. While I don’t necessarily regret my purchase, $17 is a bit too much for this game. Unless you know you are going to love this game and will be putting hundreds of hours into it, I would wait for it to go on sale. You can pick up Revita on Switch and Steam for $16.99. It is currently on sale on Steam for $11.04 until August 7th.

Don’t forget to check out the soundtrack!
