Check out the Muna Starter Deck List: Altered TCG

The Altered TCG Kickstarter launched recently, and it was fully funded in two minutes. The campaign has blown well past its goals, and continues to gain traction. Altered attempts to redefine the TCG space with its creative gameplay and expansive world-building. I’m a huge fan of the art, and am curious to see how it plays. Check out my previous post for more details.

The Kickstarter introduces six distinct starter decks based on the factions that exist within the Asgartha peninsula. Let’s kick things off by looking at the Muna starter deck! Note that starter decks are the only way to get Adventure cards at launch, so it might be good to buy a couple decks.

If you want to try out the Axiom starter deck, take advantage of the generous print-and-play feature on the official website. Join the Discord to stay up to date, and even make some friends. The campaign ends on February 28th, so don’t forget to back the Kickstarter!

Altered TCG: The Card Game Attempting to Redefine the Hobby

The Altered TCG Kickstarter just launched, and it was fully funded in the first couple of hours. The initial $54,000 goal has since been blown out of the water, and the project sits at a comfortable $1,425,675 at the time of writing this. I am sure this number is going to keep rising because there seems to be a healthy amount of buzz and interest for this game, and I can see why.

If you enjoy these updates, please leave a like, comment, follow, and share this with your friends.

What is Altered?

Altered is a unique TCG where players win by completing their adventure first. Unlike most TCGs, there is no combat. Players must instead use their deck to traverse the unique world of Asgartha with the help of their faction, tools, and allies. Do you have what it takes to conquer this new land?

This game looks like a nice combination of board games and TCG, which I am sure will bring in a new audience to the hobby. The artwork is amazing, the concept is interesting, and the creator has experience in the field. I love that they have print and play option so that you can try the game out before you back. Having the companion app is an interesting concept, but I have to see it in action before I can make my judgment. It isn’t the first game that has tried something like this, but I hope it is the first one to succeed.

How to Play

I’ll leave a download for the the rulebook, but Maindeck has put out a fantastic video where you can see it in action that you should check out.

Thoughts

I was first drawn to Altered because of the art. I am a huge fan of the style, the factions, and the world it creates. I haven’t had a chance to dive too deeply into the gameplay, but it seems like a solid fusion between board games and TCG, and I am willing to try. I am always fascinated by games that try to redefine the hobby, and this seems to have its strong start.

What I love most about the game is that they have a print-and-play option so that you can try before backing. Nothing is worse than dropping money on something you end up not liking. There is also a growing Discord you should join if you have any questions or reservations. If you are looking for a new TCG that is unique, you might want to go back the Altered Kickstarter.

GLYDR, a Unique Gaming Accesory you control with your Feet!

The GLYDR Kickstarter just launched, and it was fully funded in only 40 minutes. GLYDR is the gaming accessory that aims to revolutionize the way we play games, and promises to save some hands in the process. It is not attempting to replace the traditional controller, but rather supplement the existing ecosystem in the hopes of creating a more ergonomic solution to gaming. As someone who struggles with chronic hand pain, I welcome anything that allows me to enjoy longer gaming sessions.

What is GLYDR

GLYDR is a programable gaming foot pad with 16 programable actions. This allows gamers to offload some of the more extraneous commands to a part of the body that frankly, could use the exercise. GLYDR grants players access to a library of profiles to choose from, and the ability to create their own ensuring you always have a setup that works best for you. As someone who constantly jumps between genres, I need something that I can easily reprogram and adapt. This seems like a solid solution.

Go Back Now

Early backers can get them as cheap as $189. Act quick! As of writing this, there are $50 units left at this price, then it jumps to $249. Shipping and taxes apply when the item is ready to ship. I don’t have the money to buy one of these right now, but I thought it was at least worth the gander. Go back the Kickstarter today!

Back the Survival Horror TTRPG Eldritch Automata on Kickstarter!

Eldritch Automata just went live on Kickstarter and has already made 13k on the first day. There is still a bit to go before they get to their $65k goal, so go back if you’re looking for a horrific mech tabletop RPG.

If you enjoy these updates, please leave a like, comment, follow, and share this with your friends.

Story

The world is overrun by unspeakable horrors that have left humanity hanging by its last tread. Those unfortunate to survive must face off against the ever-present threat of bloodthirsty eldritch abominations and nightmares. Hope sits on the shoulders of those few in the world who can pilot the mighty Automata, giant mechs that appeared at the start of the calamity. Piloting the Automata is no easy feat. Pilots must be of strong resolve, because the pressures of responsibility, the strain of piloting the Automata, and the constant threat from monsters and other survivors constantly eat away at their morale.

The world of Eldritch Automata is no easy picnic. Do you have what it takes to survive?

What is Eldritch Automata

Eldritch Automata is a survival horror TTRPG that uses the award-winning Year Zero Engine. I’ve played a few games that use the Year Zero Engine, and love it so far. It’s easy to pick up, and not an impossible transition from D&D. What makes Eldritch Automata unique is the giant mechs, Automata. I am very curious to see how the Mech and Kaiju fights work, especially when players have to worry about their morale. I bet it not only makes for fun roleplay, but will also make things tense and exciting.

Kickstarter also mentions that there will be a focus on a social aspect where players need to navigate different factions, worry about treacherous factions, and form different alliances. I already have some cool ideas for roleplay, and I am excited.

The rulebook will be about 400 pages long and include accessories, depending on the tier you support and what stretch goals get reached.

If you’re looking for a horror survival game with the potential for epic kaiju battles, go back the Eldritch Automata Kickstarter today! The campaign is live until February 1st, and the product plans to ship in August.

The Electric State RPG Kickstarter fully funded after only 30 mins!

The Electric State Roleplaying Game Kickstarter campaign just went live, and it was fully funded after only half an hour. That’s a fantastic sign for a beautifully illustrated RPG with an interesting concept.

The year is 1997, and the world is on the brink of collapse. America faces its second civil war. People find escape through cheap VR headsets but become lost in the Electric State. Set off on an adventure through a war-torn countryside, and occasionally risk becoming lost yourself. The goal of this game isn’t the end but the journey you make.

The Electric State Roleplaying Game is based on Simon Stålenhag’s art book of the same name. The art is beautiful, and if you are a fan of the art book, the RPG will feature never-before pieces from the same collection. There’s a movie in the works, which I hope is as awesome as this book looks.

The game uses Free League Publishing’s Year Zero Engine, which I have been enjoying a lot. I love the flavor. What’s not to love about a post-apocalyptic 90’s aesthetic? If you like sci-fi and story-driven adventures, or what promises to be a very pretty rulebook, you’re going to want to look into this Kickstarter. The Kickstarter runs until December 20. People who are back during the first 24 hours of the campaign also get a bonus 216mm x 279mm print of the cover art for display. Backers of the Kickstarter will also get access to an alpha rulebook to get their journey started.

If you don’t like physical media, the PDF is $24. You’ll get access to everything you need to get started instantly, and any of the early versions as well.

If you want the book in your library, there are two levels you’ll need to consider. Both come with PDFs and all the stretch goals. $87 gets you the regular book, and $127 gets you a special edition only available to Kickstarter patrons. If you’re a fan of the art book or know this will be your main RPG for a while, there’s nothing wrong with paying a little extra for the special edition book. Whether you back or not, it’s worth at least looking at the project to appreciate its art.

I’ll be reviewing the game as soon as I get a copy. Stay tuned for that. If you enjoy these updates, make sure you leave a like, comment, follow, and share this with your friends.

Mech Horror TTRPG Eldritch Automata Coming to Kickstarter

Eldritch Automata launches its campaign on Kickstarter on January 2nd, and it just might be the horror RPG you need at your table. Eldritch Automata uses the Year Zero Engine that combines anime, science fiction, and horror in what promises to be a frightening and memorable experience. I’ve gotten a taste of the Year Zero System through Dragonbane, and I’ve been enjoying it. It’s easy to learn, and unique enough to provide a memorable experience. Putting this into a world of Kaijus, mechs, and other abominations seems like a good time.

Society has fallen. Eldritch Horrors and nightmarish Seraphs reign chaos over a dying world. Humanity’s only hope rests on the shoulders of pilots and their Automota, but this is no easy task. Pilots must brave the monsters that terrorize them and the demons that dwell inside them. Do you have the willpower and fortitude to be the hero the world needs, or will you be another resource in this game of survival?

The game will be revealed at PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia happening this weekend. If you’re attending, make sure you hit up the Gehenna Gaming game room to try it for yourself or head over to their booth (3750) to ask them any questions. I have to see more before I buy into the system, but I am interested. I love that it will introduce mech combat, but the moral mechanic adds a level of complexity I am here for.

Make sure you add the Eldritch Automata Kickstarter to your watch list so you get notified the moment it goes live. If you enjoy these updates, make sure you leave a like, comment, follow, and share this with your friends. You can also always buy me coffee

Spasms of Stupidity’s Kickstarter is live now! This game seems perfect for the fans of the Sega Saturn classic, DragonForce

The Kickstarter for Spasms of Stupidity: Quest for the Void is now live. Spasms of Stupidity is an auto-battler coming to Steam and Epic Games. The game is worth looking into if you are a fan of the classic Sega Saturn game, DragonForce. Spasms of Stupidity promises a modern twist to the classic with a neat combat system, interesting skill tree mechanics, and the ability to command your legion of demons. The rogue-like campaign and the countless amounts of customization promise players endless hours of gameplay. Make sure you check out the Kickstarter for a more complete breakdown of the game.

The game looks neat, and I can see it doing well in the niche it fills. If you want to support the project, $16 gets you a copy of the game, your name in the credits, and early access to the game. Make sure you check the Kickstarter for the other goodies.

It’s always a risk to back a Kickstarter, but someone has to support the little guys. This is a one-person team developing the game, so expect some delays. That said, if you are looking for a very indie Roguelike with a solid retro vibe, check the Spasms of Stupidity Kickstarter. The Kickstarter ends on December 1st.
